Born in the Blue Mountains near Sydney in Australia, SANDRINE was singing and performing from an early age with her musical family. Signed to Sony Australia in 2004, she released her debut album, “Trigger”, the same year. The album’s title track was the first single and instantly became a Top 20 hit with Sandrine being named ‘Artist of the Year’, by the largest radio network in the country -the songs controversial subject matter making for interesting interview fodder.
After earning her touring stripes around Australia, the opportunity to record her second album with producer Malcolm Burn, known for his work with Daniel Lanois, Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Chris Whitley et al shifted her attention overseas. Inspired by the beautiful setting of Burn’s studio outside of Woodstock, NY, Sandrine wrote and recorded her sublime second album, “Dark Fades Into Light”. Feeling like she’d found her musical home, she decided to stay in the US.
“Dark Fades Into The Light” was released by Nettwerk in 2008 and became an instant success in France with the hit single “Where Do We Go.” Her music became even more well-known in Europe and the US thru the placement of her songs in numerous movies, television shows and commercials, including:
* End credits and preview trailer song in the Dustin Hoffman-Emma Thompson movie Last Chance Harvey
* Major European TV and Radio campaign for ORANGE MOBILE PHONE
* French TV and Radio campaign for FNAC (France’s largest music and electronics retailer)
Touring in the UK with the well-loved Teddy Thompson, and the US with self-made artist Citizen Cope have been highlights of 2009 through 2010, as well as releasing a new collection of songs entitled ‘Circles’.
Songs Sandrine wrote for Blue Note artist Carrie Rodriguez’ current and last album have also gotten attention from the alt/country scene as well as licenses on US TV.
